Red Sky Mourning By Jack Carr

Jack Carr is back for his 2024 edition of the James Reece ass kicking tour! Red Sky Mourning leaves nothing and no one safe, as Carr pushes the Reece saga further than you thought he could go.

A Chinese submarine captained by an unstable man is on the verge of launching at Hawaii when the United States is notified by Chinese authorities. At the time, Reece is back in Montana with Katie Buranek enjoying life and learning to fly sea planes with Liz Riley. What ensues is a highly polarizing situation where you have corrupt government officials and foreign countries with bad intentions.

As the submarine situation unfolds, it looks as if there was secondary intentions amid the crisis that comes to bear that will put the United States in the cross hairs. Aside from being on the cusp of World War III, James Reece has been targeted due to his familiarity with the one and only Alice. With her contained and data on what the United States military can do with AI and their fleets, China will attempt to find a way to execute a mission that has been discussed in real world news organizations for months.

The crescendo to the end is one that builds and builds, never stopping, as Carr takes the story to heights you couldn’t have imagined. James Reece has been a hero to the United States even after all that he’s done. The country he’s devoted his life to, and given his family for, comes calling again. It’s up to Reece to prevent World War III.

Alice is one of the most intriguing aspects of the Reece adventure as she normally only graces Reece with her attention, but lives wherever she wants with the ability to see essentially any and everything. Partnering with Reece, Alice assists throughout but she’s become hunted, and Reece must utilize her skills to prevent the damaging actions of state actors and domestic politicians.

There is so much that you get to look forward to in this edition of who does James Reece need to kill. There’s a steady stream of bodies that deserve what they get, and Carr probably even surprised himself when he wrote a masterful interrogation scene that rivals if not eclipses the ghost pepper scene from Savage Son. If you’re a gear guy or gal, Carr highlights everything from clothing, firearms and accessories, knives, and even his favorite vehicles. I love that we get to see a glimpse of the items that Carr himself uses or buys off on as his former profession required top-notch tools.

The familiar characters that Reece and Katie surround themselves are all present while this story continues to grow. Looking forward to seeing Jack Carr and James Reece fans and their thoughts on what Carr has put together for this one. The bad guys are a truly worthy adversary and make the action scenes worth their weight as Reece is pushed to his limits.

Jack Carr has done it again, delivering an edge of your seat adventure where it’s one man against the world. James Reece has devoted his life to the very country that has betrayed him, but when faced with the decision to help save her or let her be ripped apart from the inside, he has no choice but to head into the fire. Red Sky Mourning will satisfy your thirst for the next James Reece installment.
