Billionaire Avery Turner and social media scuba diver Carter Mosley are back for round two in The Cardinal’s Curse from Lyndee Walker and Bruce Robert Coffin.
Back in the saddle after a phenomenal and creative discovery in The General’s Gold, Turner and Mosley are assisting with Avery’s newest and best advanced toy, the DiveNav. Created to be a new way to provide mapping and up to the second data from satellites, Avery and TreasureTech are utilizing high tech gadgetry to help locate a missing yacht in the Hudson Bay. As soon as they showcase their talents and provide some closure to a missing woman associated with a prominent New York crime family, Avery and Carter are contacted about a new environmental focused search in the Antarctic which could also lead to the discovery of the Fortitude, a ship with untold history and more than its own curse.
Turner and Mosley, along with former detective and close confident Harrison, head south to Antarctica to assist with the research. What happens next is a roller coaster ride of lies, death, and destruction. The team quickly finds out that many of the personnel involved with Dr. Noah Wyndham’s research, either aren’t who they claim to be or are hiding behind lies not meant for light of day. Held at gun point multiple times while making break through discoveries, the team of Turner, Mosley, and Harrison must outwit those trying to make the score of a century. This ride will take you through New York, Antarctica, Denmark, South America, and more as they are determined to finish the challenge and find the truth behind The Cardinal’s Curse.
The Cardinal’s Curse is outstanding if you’re looking for an exciting edge of your seat adventure with charismatic characters. The dynamic duo of Turner and Mosley, partnered with keeper and confident Harrison, are easily beloved and they are always in it for the right things. Never getting to far outside of the box, they are cunning and smart without being super sleuths which help drive the stories legitimacy.
Walker and Coffin create an aura of authenticity and curiosity around their stories that blend with just the right amount of headline news. I kept thinking back to the news story when Ernest Shackleton and the HMS Endurance was found in the Weddell Sea in Antarctica. I really enjoy history, so the stories the Walker and Coffin have provided in this series have been lively and fast paced with animated characters and dramatic sequences. This is a great summer read to get lost in and will keep you entertained throughout.
