Brad Thor brings untamed violence to Scot Harvath’s latest adventure in Shadow of Doubt.
The world is on the brink of disaster as Russian nuclear weapons are moved into Belarus. Rumors swirl of a tactical nuclear strike by Russian cronies and a French mountain climbers death seems random while he was employed by one secretive government agency. As these things start happening around the world, Scot Harvath leaves Ukraine, heading to Norway to see his love, Sølvi.
While Harvath is attempting to spend some time with his lady, he’s quickly sidetracked and tasked with doing something he never dreamed of but comes at a price. Obligated to help find what is going on in Norway and who the Norwegian authorities have in custody, Harvath becomes a broker of death. Dodging bullets left and right, He also learns information pertaining to the murder of his former wife. Not to forget, US government agencies along with the Carlton Group are trying to pinpoint tactical weapons while not escalating the situation to force someone to use them.
If it couldn’t get any better, there are a number security leaks, worse than an again Honda. People on payrolls of countries that they don’t belong to and putting their own countrymen in danger are just the tip of the iceberg. If it sounds like there is too much going on, you’re wrong. He tidies this one up very nicely as the ending comes swiftly and deadly. Adventuring across Europe with the threat of traitors in multiple agencies, saving the lives of those who fight with him, and bringing death to the front door of violent men, Scot Harvath is there to make things right.
Thor vividly creates a wild and dangerous adventure where success is dependent on the one and only Scot Harvath. I originally thought this one was going to be a scattered puzzle, but Thor delicates weaves violence and intrigue together to create a phenomenal story. There is closure that you will appreciate, while there are more then a handful of things that will open the door for whatever Thor’s next move is. He’s broadening the circle while creatively slimming it down at the same time.
I am super excited to see where this one goes, and you won’t be disappointed. I have loved Harvath from the beginning with The Lions of Lucerne and reading the latest Scot Harvath adventure by Brad Thor is an annual gift that keeps on giving.
