The Tipping Point is a terrific debut from author David Darling. With highly relatable characters, a complex story, and some proper plot twists. This is the type of book that thriller fans will absolutely enjoy. It’s a perfect weekend read.

Sergeant Noah Hunter is an ‘everyman’ protagonist who possesses a strong sense of right and wrong and is easy for readers to get behind. After being threatened to back off a murder investigation, his moral code refuses to let him and continues to pursue the killer. When the unthinkable happens and his world is literally turned upside down, he has to ask himself how far (both physically and emotionally) he’s willing to go to find those responsible.

Darling has a simplistic writing style that is a perfect mirror of his main character… and I mean that as a compliment. It’s not overly detailed or laborious to read, instead he saves the complexity for the plotlines. The prose is accessible and moves the story along at a solid pace by not wasting any words. It’s lean, descriptive, and keeps you cruising through chapter after chapter. I found the overall plot was nuanced enough to continually peak my interest throughout and the action sequences were believable and well written.

My only “complaint” is that we still don’t know who the outside forces were and what angle they were playing at. It’s only a “complaint” because I don’t want to wait for the next book to come out. I’ll have to get over my abundance of impatience as I anxiously look forward to book two in the Noah Hunter series.

Well done David and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for you fans.
