Craig Hooper lays down subtle clues and observations for astute minds to take notice of as he drives the story forward with a first person POV. The attention to detail pays off for the final revelation as readers uncover the mystery clue by clue in the front row seat with Garrison Chase. There is no straight forward predictable path to the heart of the conspiracy, an aspect that makes for a delightfully attention-grabbing experience.
The Baja Directive also doubles down on the action as Garrison Chase takes on highly trained adversaries gun running through the jungles of Mexico. The shootouts are described with a sharp visualization akin to actually being in the heat of the battle with Chase. The personal stakes hammer home an intense desperation for Chase to see the mission through and that intensity seeps into the high adrenaline sequences that grip you on the edge of your seats.
