Benjamin Spada debuts a fun, energetic, and action-packed adventure in FNG.
Sergeant Cole West is a stout United States Marine. Fact. Sitting behind a desk, shuffling papers at battalion headquarters is what all Marines dream of when they serve their country. False. Enter Captain Vaun of the most hidden and closely kept secrets the United States Government has to offer, Black Spear. Vaun, one of the Black Spear squad leaders, takes West on a mind-blowing trip into the world of dark operations.
Cole West isn’t a loner; he seems like any other Marine you would meet. He has his fair share of issues from the past he has worked through, or so he thought, but that is why he is chosen. He’s got a chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear background in the Corps; the kind of job that isn’t needed every single minute of the day. The job starts getting messy day one though. As one of the most highly provocative film producers in the U.S. has his body turned to mush, the Black Spear squad is immediately tasked with moving the contaminated remains of the deceased when all hell breaks loose. Literally.
What ensues is a battle against a very disgruntled group of former government employees under the name of ‘Terminal.’ They are heavily armed, financially set, and more than willing to die for their cause. They just happen to have on their hands one of the violent and toxic substances on the face of the planet. No one is safe, not even the President. The will of the team to defend the country from these mad men is the only thing preventing a tragic ending to the sanctity of the United States.
Spada delivers on every page of FNG with violence and speed. The characters are intriguing and well thought out. The storyline follows along with recent issues plaguing specific government agencies and their unwillingness to ensure premier care is given to their charges. He creates fantastic action in realistic locations and really draws you in with the increasing danger. If you think you would like military action blended with a side of biological weapons, topped off with a tiny bit of The Walking Dead, you’ll love this.
