Drone Strike By David Austin

In this follow up to his 2018 independent debut Tehran’s Vengeance, David Austin kick starts round two with a great performance from Joe Matthews. Drone Strike has one of those all too real feelings of how the Reaper program is eerily vulnerable. It makes you question the reality of computer systems and their susceptibility to being hacked and overtaken just from an internet connection.

Matthews is a very sarcastic and likeable character. The dialogue between Matthews team and the authentic battle scenes helps give you a front row seat to all the action. The buildup starts right from the beginning and is nothing short of exciting as you see the internal struggles that anyone would face having to go through what Matthews does. The intrigue factor is high in this geopolitical chess match that only ends when all the players on the other team are dead. Revenge, retribution, and devotion are the three main words that come to mind when describing Joe Matthews in his sophomore vacation. Austin has created an amazing character that has a ton of tread left on his wheels to allow for many more adventures. I was hooked on Joe Matthews after Tehran’s Vengeance and Drone Strike just cemented the fact that Austin is able to create exciting and fun thrillers!
