Meet Roger A. Price

Background: I was born in Bury, Manchester in the UK, and raised in Whitley Bay in the North East of England. I currently live in Preston. I served for over thirty-one years with the Lancashire Constabulary, the Regional Crime Squad and the National Crime Squad.

I retired in the rank of detective inspector in charge of a covert unit, which received local and national acclaim for its successes in engaging those who openly sold Class A drugs, such as heroin and crack cocaine.

Prior to this I led the C.I.D. in Preston for a short while and before that I was in charge of a dedicated informant unit. Previous experiences include work on many murder investigations and other serious crimes, as well as time spent on drug squads.

I have served around the region, country, and overseas. My work on the National Crime Squad took me across Europe and to the Far East. I have been commended on four occasions.

I now write fiction based in-part on my experiences, and in-part from my fevered imagination.

I have authored nine crime novels attaining the Amazon bestseller tag on six occasions. I'm currently working through a 3-book commission for SAS Thrillers set in Northern Ireland in the 1980s.

In addition to my novels I have written two TV dramas which are out on submission.

When not writing or reading, I play the guitar and ride my motorcycle.

A Bestselling Author That Is A Go-To: Stephen Leather, Andy McNab, and Lee Child. I love concise action told in shorter chapters.

An Author People Should Discover: Whoever your favourite author is, you'll find many unknown-to-you writers of a similar style. I always try to read books from people I haven't heard of.

A Book You Would Recommend From 2023: The Rescue by Andy McNab, because it's a retelling of true events.

A Book You Are Looking Forward To In 2024: Origin Story by A.M. Adair, because anything that involves, crime, intelligence and informants is right up my street.

Charities You Support: Children with Cancer UK.

Origin Story By A.M. Adair

A dark, gripping yet enchanting thriller; a must-read novella.

As an ex special ops detective inspector and manager of informant units – prior to becoming a novelist - I have always been enchanted by the nuances of criminals’ characters. How somebody capable of committing acts of untold violence can at the flick of a switch be charming and kind to animals.

Origin Story by A.M. Adair, had me gripped from the off. The main character is Elyse Tyson, a captivating character whom you quickly feel for, in her terrifying plight of waking up in a hospital environment not knowing who she is or how she got there.

Adair cleverly cements your sympathy and liking for Tyson before the story starts to unfold. She is in prison, she is psychopath. She is a serial killer.

But she is not that person anymore. A terrified and marked woman in prison, you cannot help but to feel for her. Her only help comes by way of Dr. Zach Clark; but he is not really there to help, he just wants to study this Jekyll and Hyde character. Everyone thinks she is faking amnesia; a clever shyster and trickster.

The story unfolds, and the true horror of what this earlier version of herself did comes out on the page. As do the triggers which caused it.

But will she stay her new self, or will Tyson’s troubled old persona rise up again.

I was glued to the page to find out. I highly recommend this novella, but be warned, once you start reading, you just can’t stop.
